Ant Man and the Wasp 2018 Funny Quotes

Ant-Man is an awesome character popular in both the comics and the MCU. Several characters dubbed the Ant-Man mantle over the years – most notably, Hank Pym and Scott Lang. And, it seems that it was always a mix of intelligence, wittiness, and humor that made Ant-Man such a cool, beloved character, be it on the comics pages or the big screen.

I've been a fan of Ant-Man since I was a kid (despite some unfortunate domestic violence episodes), so I decided to do some digging and find all those little things that made him such a cool character. Without further ado, here are the 15 best Ant-Man quotes from the MCU movies, and Marvel comics, ranked and listed in no particular order.

Best Ant-Man Quotes From Ant-Man (2015)

15 Best Ant-Man Quotes from Movies & Comics

"Okay, the first thing we should do… is call the Avengers."

When Scott Lang took on the Ant-Man mantle, he wasn't really considered superhero material. I mean, the guy was divorced, arrested, and imprisoned for petty crimes, thefts, etc. Sure, he had his reasons, but ultimately, that's what Scott was. Hank Pym saw something in him that made him choose Lang to be his protege.

So, when Hank first talked to Scott about Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket, the new Ant-Man's response wasn't something you'd expect from a superhero. He delivered this awesome line that tells you all you need to know about his mindset – if there's such a threat, you should call the REAL heroes to deal with it. He eventually became a true hero, but only after a rocky start.

"I'm gonna call him Anthony."

Ant-Man has a ton of abilities and powers, but it's his personality combined with those powers that made Scott Lang such a fan-favorite MCU character. There's a real sense of goodness and empathy within him (despite the troubled past), not just towards other people but all living beings.

So, when Hank Pym taught Ant-Man how to communicate with ants, it didn't take Scott long to truly care for his tiny fellow warriors. There was this flying ant he met, and Scott almost instantly gave him a name.

It was hilarious yet so weird when the death of an ant was such a heartbreaking moment for our main antagonist – and the audience. I felt so bad when Anthony fell like a real person was gone, but it really just served as a testament to the kind of person Scott Lang is. The guy literally wouldn't harm an ant.

"What? You haven't heard of me? No, you wouldn't have heard of me…"

Ant-Man was a well-known character among comic book fans for about fifty years, but the mainstream fanbase wasn't really acquainted with the hero until the first Ant-Man movie came out. I mean, even in the comics, they never take the guy too seriously, and the MCU had done a great job of portraying the fact that nobody really knew or cared about Ant-Man.

So, when Scott Lang tries to sneak into the Avengers facility and encounters Falcon, he proudly introduces himself as Ant-Man. However, he soon realizes that nobody really heard of him, and he wasn't that big of a deal to the real heroes.

The joke about Ant-Man's absurdity and irrelevance was an ongoing joke throughout the MCU and one that never really gets old. The guy is just too likable, and the fact that he knows he wasn't a big player (pun intended) in the game just added another layer of humor to Scott Lang's character.

Best Ant-Man Quotes From Captain America: Civil War (2016)

15 Best Ant-Man Quotes from Movies & Comics

"I know you know a lot of super-people, so…thinks for thanking of me!"

Playing into that "nobody cares who Ant-Man is" narrative continued into the next movie that Scott Lang appeared in. He knows that he's a small fish in the game when compared to the big players, like Captain America, Scarlet Witch, and the others.

So, when Falcon and Cap decide to call him up to fight on their side of the Civil War, Scott just gets smitten and starstruck – mixing up his words and all. I really laughed when Lang delivered this quote because it showed that, despite being a superhero himself, Ant-Man is still just a regular guy who goes all "fangirl" when he meets his heroes.

"I believe this is yours, Captain America!"

As the fight starts, Captain America loses his shield. Well, in case you didn't know, Ant-Man is a huge fan of Steve Rogers and sees him as the symbol of patriotism. The formality with which Scott Lang returns the shield to Captain America was just hilarious, given the situation they were in.

"You wanna get to them? You gotta go through me."

This particular quote from Ant-Man was directed toward Black Panther. It wouldn't be a problem if the tiny guy were tiny. However, in this particular moment, Ant-Man became the Giant-Man, a colossal version of himself that squashed everything in his path.

The moment where he went big was so epic, and the Black Panther quickly changed his focus to Clint Barton after Ant-Man's quote. I guess it was a good choice. I mean, you know you're not getting through the big fellow.

Best Ant-Man Quotes From Ant-Man And The Wasp (2018)

15 Best Ant-Man Quotes from Movies & Comics

"(Did) Anyone see a southern gentleman carrying a building?"

This particular quote is something you would expect only in a wacky, hilariously absurd movie like Ant-Man and the Wasp. We know that Ant-Man can shrink to sub-molecular levels, but this was the first time we've seen Hank Pym's technology take it to the next level.

First, they ride in shrunken cars that look like toys. And then, Hank casually shrinks a building where his lab is to briefcase size, and he just carries it around like one.

Then, one of the film's main antagonists, Sonny Burch – a crime lord portrayed by Walton Goggins – steals the briefcase-sized building from Pym, Scott Lang, and Hope van Dyne, and Ant-Man delivers this hilarious quote that made fans laugh out loud.

"What? Because of hats and sunglasses? That's not a disguise, Hank. We look like ourselves at a baseball game."

This was another golden sarcastic quote from Scott Lang, this time directed towards Hank Pym. All three of them were fugitives of the law – Scott Lang for violating his house arrest, while Hank Pym and Hope van Dyne were wanted for numerous felonies they had committed before – despite committing them for benevolent reasons.

So, as they're on the run but have a plan on what they need to do, Scott tells Hank it's not really a good idea to be "out in the open like this." However, Hank claims no one would recognize them, to which Ant-Man delivers this awesome quote that had me laugh out loud so hard.

It was funny because it was true. It's like putting on a fake mustache, thinking nobody would know you because of it.

"Hold on… you gave her wings?!"

Being Ant-Man is pretty cool. I mean, you can get into anywhere you want, escape any situation, and so much more. However, having to run around to do it all can be pretty tiresome. So, when Scott Lang discovered Hank Pym had made another high-tech suit for Hope – but with wings – he was obviously quite mad for not having wings of his own.

The quote was hilarious but so true – as much as I love Ant-Man and his suit, the Wasp is simply way more awesome.

Best Ant-Man Quotes From Avengers: Endgame (2019)

15 Best Ant-Man Quotes from Movies & Comics

"As far as I'm concerned, that is America's ass."

The last two Avengers movies were quite stressful and emotional for fans, so every bit of comic relief is more than welcome – and, Ant-Man delivered on several such moments. The best one, for me, was the scene with Captain America's buttocks.

Chris Evans' appearance and body in the role of Steve Rogers was a matter of discussion among fans throughout the MCU. And then, when the team returned to the past, in the middle of the Battle of New York, the present Cap and Ant-Man saw the past Steve Rogers in his costume, commenting on his behind.

We know how much respect Scott has for Cap from Captain America: Civil War, but this quote was just too golden. The point was driven even better after the two Captain Americas fought, and the past version of Steve Rogers got knocked out, to which the present Cap says: "That IS America's ass."

"For me, it was five hours. See, the rules of the Quantum Realm aren't like they are up here. Everything is unpredictable… Is that anybody's sandwich? I'm starving."

This quote was, again, a testament to the awesome, funny character of Scott Lang. Even when the situation is super serious, he manages to be funny and ridiculous. In this moment, he figured out there could be a way to travel back in time through the Quantum Realm and undo everything Thanos had done in Avengers: Infinity War.

As he's explaining something so important to Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers, he says that the five years that passed on Earth were merely five hours for him in the Quantum Realm. Apparently, his body would disagree, as he was just craving for a PB&J sandwich Nat had left on her table.

"So, 'Back to the Future' is a bunch of bullsh*t?"

Now, we all know the "rules" of time travel through the logic behind the Back to the Future movies – don't do anything that would disrupt the flow of history because it could change the future completely, and stuff like that.

Well, when Scott returned from the Quantum Realm with the idea of time-traveling, the real scientists – Bruce Banner and Tony Stark – explained that it's not how it works because of a paradox. As Bruce said:

"If you go into the past, that past becomes your future, and your former present becomes the past, which can't now be changed by your new future!"

Don't worry; I didn't get it either at first. But I think Scott Lang got the point: Back to the future is a bunch of bullsh*t.

Best Ant-Man Quotes From The Comics

15 Best Ant-Man Quotes from Movies & Comics

"I'll come right to the point. I received a cybernetic alarm from a frightened group of ants!"

This is what I'm talking about when I'm talking about the ridiculousness of Ant-Man as a character that both the comic book writers and the MCU producers loved to play with. I mean, we're used to hearing all kinds of absurd things in the comics, like a guy flying through space with a hammer, causing thunderstorms.

So, how come a guy receiving a cybernetic alarm from a frightened group of ants feels that absurd, not just to us but the entire Avengers team?

This quote came from Hank Pym's Ant-Man in Avengers Vol. 1 #12.

"The only persuading you're going to do, punk, is convincing the dentist to put all of your teeth back in the right place!"

We all know Scott Lang's Ant-Man as this tough but funny, entertaining, sweet guy. Well, don't let the kindness fool you – Lang can get angry, and you might not want to be on his path when he's angry. Especially if he's angry for his family being involved.

In Marvel Premiere Vol. 1 #37, it was Cassie, his daughter. At one point, Scott fights one of Darren Cross' thugs, delivering this epic quote before dispatching the poor fellow like a box of candy. Don't mess with the ant, fellows!

"Hey, when you've seen "Raiders of the Lost Ark" twenty-seven times, jumping from one speeding object to another becomes second nature!"

Another awesome thing about Scott Lang's Ant-Man is the pop-cultural references he continues to spit out all the time. It's not rare to see Marvel referencing their own universe, but when they mention other pop-culture stuff, like the Indiana Jones films, I just smile every time.

Do you want to know how Scott Lang got the gist of being Ant-Man so quickly? Well, he watched the Raiders of the Lost Ark a bunch of times. I feel you, Scott. I've watched Indy a dozen times. Still, I don't think I'd feel comfortable jumping between speeding objects.
